Gear Heads - Water Storage

Whether you choose to carry your water in bottles or a bag, you’ll need adequate storage for a few liters of water at a time. I usually carry a bag with at least a four liter capacity, although admittingly I do not always fill it up. My preference is to carry two bottles, non-BPA, and a dromedary bag with a mouth piece. I place filtered water in the bag that I can drink while walking and combine an electrolyte powder with filtered water in the bottles. This strikes a nice balance so that I don’t skunk up my bag with sugary drinks that are hard to clean out, while ensuring that I get enough electrolytes to prevent hypernatremia.
