Grand Canyon, Rim to Rim to Rim - Headed to the North Rim and Back

Heading up to the North Rim during September is a race against the sun. Sure you want to stop and take in the splendor, but every moment you spend gazing the sun creeps closer to shining down on the trail.

As you ascend the toward the North Rim, the increasing foliage makes for a dramatic contrast to the red rocks.

The view from the North Rim is significantly different than the view from the South Rim. OK, technically this shot is just below the North Rim as there really isn't a view from the North Rim trailhead.

Heading back down we comfortably walked at a good clip, keeping an eye on the sky.
